Go was the choice, but I started regretting my decision around mile 7 when my injured knee started hurting… clearly I hadn’t fully recovered. I spent the last four weeks in physical therapy and made some good progress (apparently, not enough). So, back to mile 7…did I stop? OF COURSE NOT! No, I kept going, painful step, after painful step. Not only was my knee hurting, but my opposing foot started to hurt. I pushed myself to mile 10 and that’s when the “wheels fell off”… sort of a mercer island repeat. Unfortunately, I still had 3 miles to go. Basically, I had to walk them. Oh, and… it was raining… 3 painful, wet, cold miles… Thank you T for being my “athletic supporter”, I was thankful you decided to run the first 5 miles with me and it was great to see your cheerful face at the finish line.
Today? Well… I am having a hard time walking down stairs AND my foot is totally bruised. My Physical Therapist says I have soft tissue damage… great!
No running for a couple weeks. Oh what will I do? I think there is lounge chair by the pool at Mandalay Bay with my name on it… sun, relaxation and fun.
