Vancouver Half Marathon May 2009

D & T at the start line of the Van Half Marathon. It turned out to be a gorgeous day in British Columbia. The weather was absolutley perfect for a run through the city and after a long 12 weeks of training, we were ready to hit the pavement.

All went well for me until about mile 9 then my foot started hurting. Worst pain i've ever felt. You know you are in bad shape when you are walking on a decline! I made a pit stop in the medical tent around mile 10 ... made friends with the medical volunteers and then decieded to tough it out. The last 3 miles were difficult, but i was determined to cross the finish line. Nothing like trying to take your mind of pain... strength and courage were the words I kept repeating. Funny, because those are the words that summarize the past year.

Turns out I have a 'bone bruise'... was told to not run for 4 weeks. I lasted about 3 and went out for a couple of easy runs. looks like i'm on the mend.
