13 days until Vancouver, BC Marathon...

I can't believe the race is only 13 days away! All I can say is UH OH! Unfortunately, my training hasn't been all that I planned. Our weather in Seattle has been horrible and I have been traveling quite a bit. Both excuses are good, but the reality is that I don't really feel ready...

I went on a 10 mile run yesterday along Lake Washington Blvd and Seward Park. The sun was shining and everywhere you looked people were water skiing, biking, running and walking. I think we actually broke 70 degrees yesterday...is it finally Spring in Seattle?

I need to make my final training push this week, because next week is pretty much shot. My final week before the race will be spent in Rochester, NY, Providence, RI and Boston, MA. That's right, 3 states in 5 days. Back to Seattle for a few hours and then the road trip to British Columbia begins.

KC, BC and I are working on our iTunes race mix. Any suggestions?

Quote from KC:
"I think we should try to find a nice blend that won't make us all vomit before mile 5 and keep us motivated until mile 11.5. I think that is when it become MENTAL...oh, I mean METAL! But I don't know anything metal..."

Detox Diet Chronicles

Some of my friends and I have embarked on a 7-day detox diet. The diet is sort of a modified 10-day detox diet, minus the fast. We decided that we wanted to "cleanse" ourselves and rid our bodies of toxins. No carbs, no sugar, no alcohol. Brilliant.

For the last two days I have eaten nothing but fruits and vegetables. I had baked butternut squash for breakfast...

What have we learned so far?

1. It is very hard to not eat carbs
2. The Girl Scouts are not your friend...I still have some "Thin Mints" in my office
3. Going out for happy hour is NO fun
